3 Summer Smoothie Recipes

Let’s be honest…getting kids to eat veggies is like pulling teeth. (pun intended) And coming from a dentist…sometimes pulling teeth is easier! For this very reason, smoothies have long been a staple in our house. Both of my kids love fruit but trying to get them to eat a vegetable…forget it!  So adding a cup of baby spinach to a fruit smoothie is the best way to sneak in a serving of nutrient rich veggies.

If I’m being honest, we had gotten away from smoothies for a little bit. Until I started Faster Way to Fat Loss. Now that I’m eating a whole food diet, counting macros, and eating a variety of foods, I’m back on the smoothie train. It’s a quick and easy way for me to pack in a ton of nutrition without the time required to cook, prepare, and consume a full meal. 

I often get asked on Instagram about my Vitamix blender. Everyone wants to know, “Is it worth it?” I truly can’t say it enough…150% it is WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY! I could write an entire blog post on just this blender because it’s THAT good. But the two things that sell it for smoothies are its “smoothness” and its ease of cleaning. I’ve never had an at home smoothie that was as smooth as the ones made in my Vitamix. It can whip through ice and solid pieces of frozen fruit like nobody’s business. Nothing compares!  

Here are three of my current favorite protein smoothie recipes: 

PB Banana Protein Smoothie

½ banana 

¼ cup gluten free rolled oats 

½ cup baby spinach 

½ cup oat milk

1 scoop vegan vanilla protein powder 

2 T almond butter 

1 T cacao powder 

*makes 1 smoothie

Berry Vanilla Protein Smoothie

½ pack of (4oz) frozen mixed berries

½ cup vanilla ripple 

1 t chia seeds

½ cup greens (spinach or power greens)

½ cup water 

1 scoop vegan vanilla protein powder

*makes 1 smoothie

A kid friendly green smoothie recipe:

The sweetness of the peaches overpowers any taste from the spinach. (just an FYI – baby spinach has a much more mild taste) 

Peach Vanilla Green Smoothie 

1 cup of fresh sliced peaches (approx 2 peaches peeled and sliced)

1 cup baby spinach 

1 cup vanilla greek yogurt

½ cup water 

a few ice cubes 

*makes 1 smoothie
