Everything to Know About the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally here. And this year things look a LOT different! The world looks different. Shopping looks different. And many people’s financial situation looks different. So of course…the sale looks different.
There are limited brands and items in the sale this year. Lots of brands pulled out of the sale and some styles even look redundant to last year. I honestly feel like some brands threw in their leftovers from last year.
Shopping in stores may not be available near you. And online shopping is at a peak. I know that many items will sell out and some already have.
And on top of it…many of us don’t have excess cash to blow this year.
So all of that to say…I’ve tried REALLY hard to ONLY highlight NEW things, things I have and love, or everyday basics/wardrobe essentials that can be used for years to come!
What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
It is the only sale of its kind, considered a “reverse sale”. Typically things go on sale when the season is over or a trend is phasing out. Well this sale is the complete opposite. All the newest styles for fall and winter go on sale…BEFORE the season.
What are the dates of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale happens in stages. Nordstrom rewards its most loyal customers first. The people who spend the most money throughout the year get to shop first…starting on August 4th. The Early Access sale starts on August 13, and then the sale finally opens to the public on August 19.
What is “Early Access” to the sale?
Starting August 13th, anyone with a Nordstrom credit card or debit card can shop the “early access” portion of the sale. Anyone can shop, but only card holders will be granted the sale price at checkout. I definitely don’t come from a family that condones credit cards!! But from what I’ve heard, many of the best deals sell out in this first week. So if you have any self control, and you know you won’t get in trouble, its a great time to stock up on fall/winter essentials.You can apply for a credit card right here! If you’re approved you can start shopping immediately.

Why should I shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a chance to capitalize on big ticket items at a great price. High price items that you have had your eye on for a while, big ticket items that you don’t want to pay full price for, or fall and winter essentials that you will wear repeatedly all season. You should use this as a chance to shop your favorite brands, quality handbags, or high priced winter coats.
How to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
Create a Wishlist: This year things look a lot different in the world. So they’re allowing you to create a wishlist. Brows the sale, add items to your wishlist and checkout ASAP on the first day you can shop the sale.
Order online: This is what most people will be doing this year with stores closing and cautions around in store shopping. So I’ll be up early shopping online. But the good news..there will be more items available online than in the store. So you’ll have more options..and you can shop in your PJs 😉 I also always feel more comfortable trying on at home. Plus Nordstrom always has free shipping—and free return shipping!
Schedule in-store pickup: If you feel comfortable with going into stores, this is a good plan. For one reason…trying on and returning! I plan to order most anything that seems to be of interest to me, but I know I won’t like 1/2 of it! This way I can try on, and return right there—and give a little credit back to my card 😉
Buy multiple sizes and colors: Because things go so super fast, you want to snag them all! If you THINK you MIGHT like a different size or color…just get it! You can return it! But you can’t get it later if it’s sold out.
Place multiple orders: Remember — just because something’s in your cart, it doesn’t mean it’s safe! Things will sell out from your cart! And it’s free shipping. So you may need to place multiple orders!
Stock up on essentials: This is your chance to stock up for fall! Snag staple wardrobe pieces. Designer denim that you love, cosmetics, home items, boots that will last a lifetime, timeless winter coats, or chic designer bags.
