I’m all about maximizing your wardrobe with layers…especially your maternity wardrobe. It is really hard to justify spending a ton of money on clothes you will wear for about 4 months and may never wear again. Or if the time comes for you to need them again it may be the wrong season or they’re wildly out of style.
That’s why I’ve chosen to maximize my maternity wardrobe with non-maternity layers from The Loft. These four non-maternity layering essentials from The Loft will work again next season…when I’m not pregnant.
These first two looks are based on jeans and a t-shirt.
AG Legging Ankle Maternity Jeans: Worth every single penny! These jeggings are going on their fourth pregnancy (third one from me and one from my girlfriend) and still holding strong. The color hasn’t faded and the elastic hasn’t stretched. They are the perfect dark jegging to be versatile enough for casual sneakers or dressy boots. Run TTS for non-maternity jeans and I’m wearing a 26.
Long Sleeve White T-Shirt (non-maternity): This basic white T is one of my absolute favorites and it’s non-maternity. From Targets A New Day collection, it holds the perfect amount of stretch and is oh so soft. Runs TTS and I’m still wearing a small.
Duster Cardigan
Add a long duster cardigan and a fun statement necklace and you’re set. I’m a sucker for a duster cardigan and this one is the perfect weight and color for winter. The thick sweater-like material is surprisingly not itchy and makes me want to order another color. I love this shade of lavender; it’s a nice change for the winter months.
Turtleneck Poncho
I love love LOVE a poncho…especially a turtleneck poncho. It’s such an easy layer to toss on and it’s warm and cozy! You can even wear this in place of a jacket if the temps are just right. What I love most about this one is the length. It’s not long and overwhelming like a lot of ponchos. It hits at the perfect spot in the front and back but is a smidge longer on the sides.
These next two looks are based on black leggings and a black basic t-shirt.
BLANQI Everyday Belly Support Leggings: Well it’s official – these are the best maternity leggings I’ve ever worn. I did a full review of 6 different pairs of maternity leggings and I shared all the pros and cons of these babies. But the more I wear them, the more I love them. They are the perfect thickness as well as quality for a nicer than workout outfit.
Basic Black Maternity 3/4 Length T-Shirt: Nothing fancy here. Just a basic black, 3/4 sleeve black maternity t-shirt…that I live in.
Long Sweater Vest
Y’all know I’m a sucker for any vest. I have an entire section of my closet designated to vests (no lie!). But a casual, long, sweater vest may be my favorite of all. I love this one for its pockets and flecked color variation. I actually had my eye on it earlier in the fall and when it went on MAJOR SALE I snagged it.
Scoop Neck Poncho
Ok. I’ve confessed my love for a poncho – and this one takes the cake! I can’t rave about it enough. The colors are what winter dreams are made of (wine, pumpkin, blush) and the chunky, woven fabric is fantastic. This will be wardrobe staple heading into spring…be prepared to see it over and over again!
