It wasn’t until I hit 30 that I really started getting concerned about my skin care routine. For years my mom has warned me of this day…and it is OH SO true! When you’re “young” aging is such a foreign concept. You almost think it will never happen to you. But oh Mother Aging. She comes for everyone!
And not only have I become more concerned about my skin care routine, but also my child. I recently learned that the FDA does not regulate the cosmetic industry in the United States!! Yep! You heard me! All the products we use to bathe and lather our children have no regulation. Not even our sunscreen.
So when a new friend introduced me to Beauty Counter and educated me on their CLEAN COSMETICS I was really intrigued. But like most everyone else, I was a little skeptical. Everywhere you turn these days there’s a new line of skincare, child skin care, cosmetics, etc and they all claim to be better than the competitors. But I thought, “what the hay? I’ll give it a try” and I started doing a little research. Beauty Counter prohibits 1,500 ingredients from all of their products (read the “Never List” right here). Their fragrances come from natural sources (which is why NONE of their products have a super strong obnoxious smell) and most are made with essential oils. (read all about the companies mission here)
So I started with 3 products, mineral sunscreen, baby balm, and sheer lipstick. And the skeptic in me was totally blown away!! The fragrance is mild but just enough. And you know that residue that most products leave behind — not there! You can truly tell that these are different. And not only did I love the products so much that I ordered more for myself, but I ordered some for Parker as well!
We are slowly changing over all of our products to Beauty Counter ones. As I run out of something in my old cosmetic regimen, I’ve been ordering the replacement from Beauty Counter. And truthfully, I’ve yet to find something that I don’t like. Below are the products we currently use and love and a few reasons why. I’m only sharing the ones I can truthfully vouch for but I have all ideas that most ALL of them are fabulous.
I absolutely LOVE this body wash! The fragrance is so pure and clean (and not overpowering). We have hard water at our house and I don’t notice ANY residue on my skin after using this. You know what I’m talking about! Some bar soaps leave a weird sticky feeling on your skin. Not this guy!
I used this hand cream all winter and it’s fabulous. I’m not a big fan of hand cream because of the greasy feeling it leaves on the palm of your hand. I never noticed that with this stuff!
This lipstick is TRULY my favorite product EVER!! I am NOT a fan of lipstick. If you read my previous blog post you know all about my aversion to lipstick. This is a “sheer” lipstick that provides MORE than enough color without leaving your lips feeling sticky and dry. I TRULY can not rave about this enough!!
I love this for days that I don’t want to wear full makeup but also don’t want to go “bare”. Not only does this product moisturize but it gives a small amount of coverage as well.
Their baby products are TRULY amazing!! This is such a great gift set for a new mom or even if you’d like to try all 3 products. Such a great deal!
Parker has Eczema and when she has a little outbreak on her booty we put this in her bath! So soothing and helps to calm the itch.
OK – I’m not going to claim that this stuff “cures” Eczema, but I can honestly say that it helps keep Parker’s at bay. She gets outbreaks at the base of her hairline and itches like crazy. Like to the point that I worry about people thinking she has lice. ha ha. And since we’ve started using this soap she hasn’t scratched once! She still has bumps on her booty, but the amount of itching (especially in her head) has decreased to basically NONE!!
OK – below is my absolutely FAVORITE product I’ve tried recently!! Lets be real, putting sunscreen on your kids is a nightmare. And then to think that its harmful! Well dang! You’re just losing on all fronts! Beauty Counter sunscreen is mineral based. Which I didn’t even know was a thing. And the spray bottle is not an aerosol either! The mechanism which allows the spray is non-aerosol. You can read all about it here.
The roll on sunscreen is a LIFE SAVER for your kiddos face! It makes the whole process easier.
I’d love to hear any feedback from those of you that use or have tried Beauty Counter! Leave it in the comments below.

I LOOOOOVE the sunscreen. I mean all the products are great, but the sunscreen is clutch! Especially the face stick with kids. š
