OLD NAVY WOMEN’S SUMMER CAPSULE WARDROBE
I recently popped into Old Navy for an impromptu shopping trip. And came up with this entire women’s summer capsule wardrobe. Old Navy is usually hit or miss for me…often times more misses than hits. But this time it was a hit out of the park (you guys like that baseball reference huh?). I put together quite a few new outfits for summer for both casual and business attire. Most of these pieces are mix and match and would allow you plenty of options in your wardrobe.
For sizing reference: I’m 5’3” with a really short torso. I usually wear a size 2/26 in pants (right now I’m up a size due to post baby weight), a size small in tops, and a size 7 shoe.
Leopard Slip On Sneakers
I was immediately drawn to these leopard slip on sneakers the minute I saw them. But honestly, I purchased them not knowing if they would work or not. For $25 you never can expect a pair of shoes to be comfortable. But yall – THESE THINGS ARE LIKE SLIPPERS! And have quickly become the central focus of this summer capsule wardrobe. I’ve worn them for 2 straight days now and not a single rub on my foot. I’m ordering them next in a handful of colors. These run TTS – I’m wearing my normal size 7.
Twill Pull-On Elastic Waist Shorts
I love everything about these linen blend pull-on elastic shorts. So much so that I bought them in 2 colors and I’m going back for more! Who doesn’t love an elastic waist short?! But usually elastic waist shorts are baggy and unflattering across the front. These aren’t like that! The structure of the shorts and the texture of the fabric create a flat front and structured sides. There’s also a faux drawstring you can tie in the front for extra detail – which looks really cute with tucked shirt. These run TTS – I’m wearing a small.
$8 Striped Jersey Swing Dress
Yes you read this right…this dress is $8! In the store I thought it had to be a final sale, clearance item. But its not. This striped jersey swing dress was just a daily deal and it was valid online as well. What I love most about this dress is the neckline. For someone with broad shoulders, this neckline is extremely flattering as it elongates your arm. The perfect amount of fit and flare makes this dress PERFECT for summer. Runs TTS (has a lot of stretch) – I’m wearing a small.
Pixie Pants with Super Stretch
I’ve been in need of a pair of nice black pixie pants for a while and I finally found them. The best part…these are ankle length – aka: perfect for short girls. They have the stretch of a legging but the thickness of a pant. And with a button and zipper front closure and pockets – they work perfectly for all my working gals out there. Run TTS – I’m wearing a 4. These pixie pants also come in a ton of fun prints…including leopard. (styled in picture below)
Long Linen Open Front Blazer
I love love LOVE layers and this long linen open front blazer is a timeless piece that you could do so much with. Its lightweight and a very flattering fit. You could pair it with jeans and a basic tee all the way to dress pants and pumps. I’m wearing a small – I could have gone with an XS if my shoulders weren’t so broad but the small was much more comfortable.
Ivory Trimmed Camel Sneakers
These lace front suede sneakers are EVERYTHING! The color combination gives a much more expensive and classic look. They come in a handful of colors – my favorite is white. Everyone needs a classic pair of white sneakers. These run TTS – I’m wearing my normal size 7.
Denim Skirt and Luxe Swing Tank
I’ve never been a huge fan of denim skirts on myself just due to functionality. I don’t feel like I can ever move in them…they’re so constricting. But this high rise, raw hem black denim skirt has an AMAZING amount of stretch. I felt that the length was appropriate even for a mom 😉 I’m wearing a size 4.
I paired this skirt with my favorite favorite FAVORITE tank of all times. The Luxe Swing Tank is just that – luxe in quality, SO SOFT, with the perfect amount of fit and flare. I have this in a few colors (wearing a size small) and patterns and wore them even when I was pregnant. The length makes them perfect to wear with leggings too.
